In September, there are 20 regulatory deadlines on the horizon.
On August 5, 2026, the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM), Italy's Customs and Monopolies Agency, published version 2.0 of the communication protocol for sports betting and forecasting contests.
The PSCP establishes standardised technical and operational procedures for communications between licensed operators and the ADM regarding sports betting activities and related contest operations. Version 2.0 represents an update to the existing protocol framework, incorporating refinements to ensure continued alignment with Italy's regulatory requirements for the sports betting and gaming sector.
The protocol applies to all operators licensed to offer sports betting and forecasting contest services in Italy. It sets out the technical specifications, data formats, and reporting requirements that operators must follow when communicating with the ADM, ensuring consistency and compliance across the regulated market. It will be made available in the operational environment on September 4, 2026.
On July 22, 2026, Brazil's Prizes and Betting Secretariat under the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF) opened a public consultation on new rules regarding fixed-odds betting. The public consultation aims to collect relevant information from stakeholders to draft future ordinances which will define the conditions for operators to obtain authorization to operate in fixed-odds betting.
Pulic Consultation Notice SPA/MF No. 3/2026 opens on July 27, 2026, and ends on September 9, 2026. It lasts for 45 days, interested stakeholders can submit their comments at brasilparticipativo.presidencia.gov.br.
On August 13, 2026, the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner submitted the updated Code of Practice for the Remote Gambling Industry: Anti-Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism and Counter Proliferation Financing Arrangements to public consultation.
As explained in the press release, the updates are not extensive and mostly involve clarifications of already existent requirements and aspects of best practice. The changes focus on licence holders subject to licensing and AML obligations in other jurisdictions, while their relevant business is managed and controlled from Gibraltar, as well as on board-level accountability for AML/CFT/CPF compliance.
The public consultation, which is conducted in accordance with the Gambling Division's Consultation Arrangements, is scheduled to close on September 14, 2026. Comments and opinions can be submitted to the following email address: gamblingregulators@gibraltar.gov.gi.
On June 26, 2026, Britain's Gambling Commission invited gambling industry stakeholders to submit proposals identifying opportunities to reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens while maintaining consumer protections and supporting the licensing objectives of the Gambling Act 2005.
The initiative, announced as part of the Commission's 2026/27 Business Plan, seeks feedback on how regulatory requirements, guidance and operational processes could be streamlined or improved. Stakeholders are invited to submit proposals relating to the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), Remote Technical Standards, reporting requirements and broader regulatory interactions.
The Commission stated that the exercise aims to ensure compliance costs remain proportionate to the risks posed to consumers while continuing to prevent crime, ensure gambling is conducted fairly and openly, and protect children and vulnerable persons from gambling-related harm. Industry stakeholders are invited to submit proposals through the Commission's online submission form by the end of September 2026.
On July 30, 2026, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking public comment on amendments to Parts 37, 38, and 39 of the CFTC's regulations, as well as Commission regulations 1.52 and 1.55 concerning affiliations among certain CFTC-regulated entities.
According to CFTC's press release, the proposal sets forth principles-based regulations for vertically integrated market structures to bolster market integrity without stifling novel market structures or imposing excessive compliance cost on registrants. The press release notes that this proposed rulemaking is the result of continued growth in the number of affiliations between CFTC-regulated entities such as market makers, and the amendments proposed aim to address issues that may arise in connection with such firms, including with respect to perceived and potential conflicts of interest.
Interested stakeholders may submit public comments to CFTC by any of the outlined methods by September 28, 2026.
