Stockholm-listed B2B sports-betting provider Kambi has announced the resignation of CEO and co-founder Kristian Nylén this morning (December 8).

Nylén’s resignation will see him depart from the company he helped set up with Anders Ström in 2010 sometime “during the year” once a successor has been appointed, according to the company’s press release.

The search for a new CEO at Kambi will “commence immediately”, according to Ström, with the company set to provide updates as they become available.

Alongside news of Nylén’s resignation, Kambi also announced that it has put him forward for election to its board of members at its upcoming annual general meeting (AGM).

Nylén called the decision to stand down “difficult, but one predominantly driven by my desire to spend more time with my young and growing family”.

“As co-founder, my heart and professional allegiance remain firmly with Kambi; therefore, I am honoured to accept the nomination committee’s proposal to join the board. Pending my election at the forthcoming AGM, I look forward to focusing more intensively on the strategic aspects of our business; however, my immediate attention remains on driving Kambi forward in my current role.”

Kambi’s nomination committee has also proposed at the 2024 AGM that the board of directors should be extended, with the re-election of Anders Ström, Patrick Clase, Marlene Forsell and Cecilia de Leeuw, and that no deputy members should be elected until the 2025 AGM.

Alongside Nylén, Kambi’s nomination committee has proposed that independent advisor and former Scientific Games managing director Benjie Cherniak should also become a new member of the board of directors.

Fellow co-founder Ström has also been proposed to remain as chair of the board.

Ström praised Nylén’s contribution to the company, calling his contribution “central to our many achievements”.

"I am confident that Kristian’s (Nylén’s) insights and proficiency will persist in advancing the Company and creating value for our shareholders. His potential transition to a board position reflects his enduring dedication to Kambi as both a founder and a major shareholder, while also ensuring a consistent and stable strategic course for the company."
